Academic Support/Student Success Programs

  • College Readiness Program
Classes in ESL, reading and English writing provide students with additional practice and individual attention in a small group setting. For information call 408.864.8912 or visit the Readiness Lab in the Learning Center, Room 138.

  • Extended Opportunity Program and Services (EOPS)
If you are a low-income or educationally disadvantaged student, this program can help you achieve your academic and vocational goals.

  • Learning in Communities (LinC)
This interdisciplinary program links two or more classes with a common theme. You'll work with the same community of students in a friendly, supportive atmosphere.

  • Listening and Speaking Center
The LSC offers tutoring and small group English practice sessions for second language learners. Students can also improve their English communication skills through the use of ESL software and programs like Cross Cultural Partners and The Language Exchange. You do not have to be an ESL student to participate. Just come up to AT 304 and we will get you started in a variety of fun and useful activities!

  • Puente Project
Participate in a two-quarter program that focuses on Mexican American/Latino authors and issues. For more information contact Alicia Cortez at 408.864.8365 or Becky Roberts at 408.864.5764.

  • Student Success and Retention Services Center (SS&RSC)
Need academic mentoring or coaching, leadership development, or a study group? SS&RSC (formerly SLAMS and STARS) can help you define and achieve your educational goals.

  • Tutorial Centers & Academic Skills
The Tutorial Center provides free tutoring in most subjects. For self-paced classes and help with study skills, reading, writing, spelling, basic math and algebra, visit the Academic Skills Center.

  • Writing and Reading Center (WRC)
Get drop-in tutoring and attend free workshops that will help you improve your reading and writing skills.
