Counseling CurriculumThe Counseling Division offers a broad range of courses with a view towards helping you be successful in college and life.COUN 100: Orientation to College (1/2 Unit) Orientation to college programs and services, location of college resources and facilities, explanation of college policies and procedures. COUN 57: College Success (2 Units) The development of goals, attitudes and personal management skills essential to academic success. CLP 70: Self-Assessment for Career Planning (4 Units) Explorations of individual values, interests, skills and personality types as they relate to career/life choices. HUMA 10: Human Sexuality (4 Units) The comprehensive study of the biological, psychological and sociocultural aspects of human sexuality. An exploration into values and attitudes and their relationship to behaviors and behavioral changes. An assessment of cultural mores and current sage sex practices.
HUMA 20 Life Skills for Higher Education (4 units) Stress as the interaction between the individual and the environment viewed form psychological, sociological, and physiological perspectives including gender, multicultural and global concerns. HUMA 53: Peer Advising (3 Units) Dimensions of peer roles, foundations of attending and intervention skills, information giving and appropriate referral procedures. HUMA 56: Mind Over Math (4 Units) Basic concepts in psychology are used to foster the student's understanding of his/her lifestyle as it relates to math avoidance and the development of strategies and skills that lead to mind over math.
