CD53 Notebook Guidelines

Guidelines for Notebooks

Use a large notebook. Cover or decorate an old one to save money. Or use a file box with index cards, if this is more practical for you. Or you can use a milk crate file, if you prefer a larger format.

Criteria for Grading

There are three different categories, each with corresponding point values. Points are related to the amount of work a student puts into making this a useful tool for future reference.
60 - 80 POINT NOTEBOOK MUST INCLUDE:
All activities presented in class by the instructor, including instructions for repeating the activities with children. This means you must record the activities presented by the instructor weekly. You may include samples of activities or photographs of completed activities if you desire.
Activities presented by students throughout the quarter, including instruction for replicating the activities with children.
100 POINT NOTEBOOKS MUST INCLUDE ALL OF THE ABOVE CRITERIA PLUS:
  • Minimal organization (i.e. organize by medium use, age of child, purpose of activity.)
  • Pertinent facts from class including assignments (if possible, handouts, articles, etc.)

100-120 POINT NOTEBOOKS MUST INCLUDE ALL OF THE ABOVE PLUS:
Organization so that you can easily find a specific activity. This means additional categories such as themes or seasons - an organizational structure geared to your needs or the needs of your program.
Research other resources, besides recommended texts, and include a bibliography which includes the title, author, a brief description of the content of the book or article.
