International Student Programs (ISP)

The application process is very simple. You may download the:

International Student Application Form, or request an application to be sent to you by completing the Request for Application.

De Anza College is on a quarter academic calendar. New international students are admitted three times per year.

When To Apply

It is strongly recommended that students apply six months before the quarter they wish to start studying. Do not wait until the application deadline! Once the ISP office receives the application form with all of the supporting documents, we will begin evaluation of your application and an admission decision will be made within 3-5 weeks.

Admission Requirements

  1. International Student Application Form. Completed & Signed.
  2. TOEFL or IELTS score:
    • TOEFL: 500 paper based, 173 computer based, or 61 iBT(internet based). When you take the TOEFL test, write down "De Anza College" code: 4286 to ensure faster service by ETS in sending De Anza your test score. Remember, we need to have Official Score Report, not your own copy. For more information on the TOEFL test, log on to: www.toefl.org
    • IELTS: a minimum of 5.5 score is required. For more information on the IELTS, log on to: www.ielts.org
    • No TOEFL or Low Score?
  3. Bank Letter. Submit an original bank letter from your account or sponsor's dated within the last 6 months with an official signature on bank letterhead that shows at least $17,066.00 in US dollars, is available in funds.
  4. Transcripts. Submit original or certified English translations of your secondary and post-secondary transcripts.
  5. Photograph (passport size)
  6. $50 Application Fee. Submit a non-renfundable 50.00 USD application fee by money order, bank draft (payable trhough a U.S. branch), or credit card. NO CASH
  7. Dependent(s) Information Form for spouse/child (if they plan to reside with you in the U.S.

Important: All documents submitted to De Anza College as part of the application becomes the property of the college. This is a common practice among schools in the U.S. Students should always request more than one set of their transcripts for other future needs.

NOTE: if your TOEFL score is below the minimum required for admission to De Anza, you can:

  1. attend De Anza Summer Program. See Summer ESL Program
  2. take the TOEFL again until you pass it or
  3. attend a local Language School: ESL language schools. De Anza has a guaranteed admission agreement with many local languages schools.

Complete this form if you wish to pay the $50 non-refundable application fee with a Credit Card.

Complete this form if you wish to add dependents (spouse/children) to your admission document I-20.

Complete this form if you are not 18 years of age at the time you are applying to De Anza College.

PDF Transfer Release Form

Complete this form if you are transfering to De Anza College from another U.S. school.

Summer ESL Program

If your TOEFL score is between 475 and 499 (CBT: between 151 & 172, iBT between 52 & 60, IELTS between 5.0 & 5.4) and you would like to apply to De Anza for the Fall quarter, you can attend our Summer ESL Program ,an eight-week intensive language study program which garantees you admission to De Anza in the following Fall quarter upon successfull completion of the program. Check out the link for more information and application prodcedures.

Cost It is $1,632 per quarter based on 12 units (full time) quarterly, or $4,896 per year for three quarters. Compared to four-year universities, it would be a major saving (more than 60% saving) to complete the first two years of university education at De Anza College. De Anza, like most community colleges, does not have any dormitories for its students. However, De Anza is conveniently located near many private housing choices; check out this link for detailed information on housing.

International Student Programs also works with an organization called International Student Placements, http://www.isphomestays.com/, that will find homestays with families for our international students. These homestays provides partial meals (breakfasts and dinners) and serve as excellent opportunities for students to learn more about the American culture and improve their English skills.

If you prefer to live on your own or with another student, you can also contact the ISP Homestays for apartment living. In addition, you can search and post housing information on the De Anza Housing website at: http://www.deanza.edu/housing/. We will also give you more information about housing during the Orientation Program.

Are you transfering from another U.S. school?

If you are transfering to De Anza College from another U.S. school, it is required that both you and the school you are currently enrolled at, complete the Transfer Release Form and submit it to the ISP office.

Minor Students

Applicants who are less than 18 years of age must complete and return to the ISP office the Parent/Guardian Authorization form before they can be allowed to register for classes.
