STUDENT COMPLAINTS & RESOLUTION PROCESS
Student complaints may fall into one of several categories:
Academic regulations, unrelated to disability
Harassment, due to disability or some other reason
Discrimination, due to disability, or some other reason
Denial or disagreement about an accommodation
The process to resolve complaints varies, depending on the type. You may utilize a campus resource person in Special Education, Counseling, Student Development, or other advisor for assistance. Information about procedures is described in the current college catalogue and Schedule of Classes.
Requests for Exceptions
to the Academic Regulations or Requirements
Exceptions to college regulations are generally
appealed through the Academic Council Petition process.
Your counselor/advisor can assist in preparing your
request. You have the option to appear before the
Council to discuss your situation. It is often advantageous
to do so.
Course substitutions or waiver requests based on disability follow a special procedure, as outlined in Section Two: Academic & Classroom Accommodations & Services, Academic Adjustment & Course Substitutions. You may also see your counselor/advisor for information.
Complaints about Discrimination or Harassment
Discrimination and harassment complaints are
reported to the office of the Dean of Student Development
or to the ADA/504 Officer.
