SPECIAL EVENTS FOR STUDENTS WITH DISABILITIES
The Special Education Division sponsors speakers, events and activities for the college and community. Events in recent years have included a lecture by a nationally recognized speaker on learning and ADHD, participation in national teleconferences, and presentations by local community agencies that serve persons with disabilities.
The SED sponsors an annual Spring Celebration to honor the program’s students who have earned certificates or degrees or who are transferring to the university. Each year Division staff members accompany students to San Jose State University for Community College Visitation Day, hosted by their Disability Resource Center.
A number of students are appointed members of the Special Education Advisory Board. This group of community and campus leaders meets biannually to advise the programs.
