About Me

Dr. Artun studied Mechanical Engineering and Physics as an undergrad and then completed his PhD at Princeton University in the Department of Astrophysical Sciences - Plasma Physics Section. His PhD thesis is titled "Low-frequency Microinstabilities in Rotating Tokamak Plasmas" under the guidance of W.M. Tang. After his PhD, Dr. Artun did his postdoctoral studies at UCLA's Physics Department, where he conducted research on instabilities in solar plasmas, working with Prof. S.C. Cowley. In 1996, Dr. Artun moved to the financial industry, working in fixed income derivatives focusing on credit derivatives. In 2013, he formed a fintech startup called "EMBonds MTF," which was funded by VCs. The bond trading platform was eventually sold to BGC Partners. After the exit, Dr. Artun has been advising and consulting startups and teaching.
