Argumentation and Critical Inquiry in Oral Communication


Course Description

This course presents the principles and methods of critical inquiry, advocacy, and debate. Students will develop research skills; critically evaluate evidence; identify fallacies in reasoning and language; advance reasoned positions with consideration to ethical practices and cultural sensitivity; and use critical thinking to defend and refute arguments through analysis, presentation, and evaluation of oral and written communication arguments.
